## What it is

talk is a small desktop utility that lets you speak instead of typing, anywhere you would normally type. Press the trigger (Ctrl twice by default; any single key or combination of up to three keys can be set in settings) and start talking. Your words appear live in whatever text field is focused: a prompt to an AI assistant, an email, a chat box, meeting notes, a form. Press the trigger again, or say your stop command, when you are done. When you pause, the last sentence is cleaned up automatically.

## Who it is for

Anyone who thinks faster than they type: people dictating long prompts to AI assistants, people answering email, anyone filling forms or writing messages all day. It works in any application, with no plugins and no per-app setup, and it types only into the field that currently has focus.

## How it works

1. Double-tap Ctrl (or your own trigger) in any app and start talking.
2. Speech becomes text word by word, right at your cursor or in a floating talk bar (your choice). This step uses a local speech engine on your own device, so it is instant, private and free to run.
3. Whenever you pause, the last sentence is cleaned by AI: filler words removed, capitals and punctuation added, and the tone read (blunt or warm). You accept the cleaned version with one key, or keep your raw words. This is the only step that touches AI.

## AI rewrite

The clean-up step takes a rewrite prompt. Tell it who to be ("you speak for the company, keep it formal", "be warm and friendly", "as short as possible") and every sentence you speak lands rewritten to match, the moment you pause, with no editing afterwards.

## Live translation

Turn on translation and dictate in the language you think in; the finished text arrives in the language you need. Recognition works in the language you pick in settings, and the website itself is available in several languages through the language switcher in the menu.

## Voice commands

Fully hands-free operation with a command word (default "letbe", changeable): "letbe send" presses Enter, "letbe new line" breaks the line, "letbe remove" deletes the last sentence, "letbe remove all" clears everything, "letbe stop" ends dictation. Commands are available in your language too.
